Following the completion of my degree, I spent the entire summer wandering around a number of festivals, camera in hand and cat ears on head; uncovering all manner of inspirations and opportunities, losing and discovering a number of parts of myself, and all the while gathering some wonderful acquaintances. The images and footage of said festivals will be appearing up here in the near future.
As winter descended, the need for a steady income gave me little free time. But now being fortunate enough to work only part time, I spend the remaining hours of my week working on a portfolio with which to seek potential employment. I intend to use this blog more frequently to document the progression of my inspiration and ideas, throughout my creative foragings, and bring them together in one place.
Amongst a number of other projects, I am currently working on a narrative which I intend to represent in the form of a low budget film. As the project is still in such early stages, at present I am simply experimenting with styles and themes. Currently I'm exploring Wheal Busy:

I got some of this eyeshadow (see below) for christmas and due to the tones and the rocky texture (with bits of glitter) it strangely reminds me of the landscape at Wheal Busy.
Welder's album 'Vines and Stream' has regularly featured on my playlist recently, as well as Ott's 'Mir', Emancipator's 'Soon it will be cold enough' and Stateless (self titled album). I'd like to discuss the way in which music has and will continue to influence my works, researching similar practitioners and potentially reaching more academic writings in the future.

For now I will post a number of tracks that I've found particularly inspirational and connected with the wheal busy photographs (or at least my general mood).
Ott - Aubergine of the Sun (2011)
Welder - Purple & Orange (2006)
Emancipator - Jet Stream (2010)
The Orb - Little Fluffy Clouds (1990)
Aside from the narrative and emotional aspects of music, I'm particularly drawn to sampled dialogue, turned into a rhythm or composition. Pogo's work is a brilliant example of this. Also songs like 'Little Fluffy Clouds' (see above).
Pogo - Gardyn (2013)
